Yes, I have.... 3 complete changeovers as a matter of fact. All were taken out of factory ac models from wrecking yards. Getting everything for ac from another truck is the hard part because most factory ac trucks are incomplete these days. A complete system includes compressor/mounting bracket, condenser, 2 rubber hoses, all aluminum or copper tubing, receiver/dryer,speed up solenoid, cranshaft pulley, water pump pulley (different ratio), idler/tensioner assembly, clutch fan, fan shroud, evaporator assembly, evaporator housing adapter, blower motor, ac relay, rubber evaporator drain tube, firewall seal plate assembly, and all hardware. If you are lucky enough to find all this it is fairly straight forward. The biggest challenge is hole saw drilling firewall in proper place for suction and liquid line. (take measurements from original ac truck). To mount condenser, the holes are there but there are no nuts spot welded in as a factory ac truck would have. Just use bolts and nuts...All wiring for ac is in original harness (green). You will find these connections taped to the harness. One for speed up solenoid found near carburetor at firewall, one for thermostatic switch on evaporator behind glove box, and one black lead ( I think) for compressor below battery. You will also need to hook up ac relay to a connector under dash on left side of steering columb. The ac blower motor is bigger and needs to be hooked up. When wired properly, compressor and blower motor should only come on when engine is running. I would change compressor oil, flush system, vaccuum down and check for leaks. Then recharge with 1lb. 14oz. of r-12, and hope compressor is still good. Note: If you can find a new receiver/drier, replace it. I have had good luck with reusing originals, but I always make sure system is clean and vaccumm longer to remove any moisture. There is also a screen in suction side of compressor behind hose fitting I always clean before installing on engine. Good luck!
