I was thinking they had too much backspacing to hit like that. The wheel should sit further out, to where the tire would hit on the frame or the cab before the wheel got into the a-arm.
There are supposed to be some stops for the steering though, though I can't recall just what the 2WD ones look like. I believe they are on the frame though, where the idler arm and pitman arm are on either side.
