i just got a 81 chevy luv 1.8 4x4 took 2 days to get it running but i have stalling problem and i have trace it back to a sensor on the the carb. no one knows what it is it has a 2 wires on the end of it and held in with 2 screws and it has a pluger on the end of it . can any one tell me what it is [/quote]

It's probably the fuel shut off solenoid. It does just what it's name is.
It needs to have power when the key is on and no power when the key is off.

HEY RONDOG does fuel shut off have 2 wires on the back of it and plunger on the in that goes into the carb ?

Yes. And the back end of it points towards the valve cover.

IT POINTS MORE TO THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR but i think its it i call dearship to ask them and the guy did not know what a luv was. so no help there i just got the truck last friday it runs great i have plans to make it a little trail truck i paid 500 for the i got 90.0 in tires and lift kit for it

haynes manual on the luv has an assembly drawing of all the carburetors used on luvs. only three parts use 12v. one wire to electric choke one wire to anti dieseling(fuel shut off) and two wires to coasting valve solenoid

i ordered a hanyes on it. will the fuel shut cause it to stall after it is been driven. only does it when im stoping but starts right back up im lost on this motor first time ever having one
