Heres the guy with lots of problems on his lime green 79 luv.

Anyway, if anyone has a 79 luv that runs okay, i need pics of the air filter setup, and where all the vaccuum hoses go. And another picture of what wires hook to the coil and resistor, my dad thinks something is hooked up wrong, because we had an electrical short. All the power went out.. but i think i fixed it. i just unhooked the main power cable connected to the positive side of the batter (the one that powers the lights, ignition, radio. etc..) and made sure it was making good contact and it worked again, so i guess im not really worried about it. But a pic with what wires go where would be great still.

And about the air filter, we think one of the hoses is hooked up wrong so its drawing out oil or something because there is a LOT of moisture from the exhaust, and it smokes heavily. But then again that could be from everything being brand new, being from us rebuilding the engine.

If that made any sense to ANYONE, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
-Chris

Look around the site and you will find a lot of this has been covered. If you click on "Information" on the home page of LUVTruck, you will find electrical wiring diagrams of whatever you have. Try the "Search" tool at the top of the forum page to look for anything. Here's the hose routes;

If your engine is new did you rebuild it because it blew up and if so the your exhaust system could be full of oil or coolant or both.After checking the hose routing the drive the truck awhile and see if the smoke will clear up as it takes heat to get rid of it.

yeahhhhh

my truck is fixed and running like a dream. haha there were a few problems we ran into.

when we adjusted the valves, we didn't adjust them according to the book, just when the rocker arms weren't rested on the lobes we'd adjust them.

bad idea.

they were making a huge racket so my dad and i adjusted them according to the book. and now they're veryyy quiet and soundin good.

it ran for a day or so but then one day just cut out and screwed up on us, we took listened to it while it ran and my dad thought it jumped time on us. we took off the valve cover and we thought it was the tensioner near the timing chain, so i grabbed the old one and i realized we didn't release the spring on the new one! the chain was HELLAAAA loose. so we undid it and tadaaa

no problems since. been running great. and its all thanks to some hard work and a lot of help from you guys! i appreciate it.

ill be postin some pics of the engine soon. so i can get some opinions on it and what not.

thanks guys
-chris
