Here is the only issue. When driving and the engine gets up to operating temp, the engine wants to die when i let it idle. Then it will not restart, it will go "rerererere" real good but it wont start combustion, then if I wait a couple minuts it will start up, then it shoots black smoke like im runnin rich and try to die on me again. Here is the funny thing. when its cold and i start it, like in the morning, it starts up great and idles...o.k. but no smoke. Could it my carb, or electrical, and help and shared experiances would help me get my luv back on the road, thank you!

Since it will crank and won't fire after the engine warms up, pull the wire out of the center of the distributor cap when it quits and crank it with the end of the wire about a quarter of an inch from the block and see if you get a good spark jumping. If you don't, the coil could be going bad from heat.

I had a simular problem once and it turned out to be a failing coil resistor...

Check your elec. like suggested but also check your carb as it sounds like it has a heavy float and it is flooding the engine.Just pull the air cleaner lid and with a light look down the carb and see if there is fuel.

update-so last night i checked the spark, when it was warm and i have a great strong spark, i checked the fuel and got consistent fuel, and the choke looks like its operating right. I started to isolate issues, maybe thinking it was a vacume issue, so i pulled one of the vacume hoses and it stoped dying. It's the brake booster-carb-out of carb-into bottom backside of carb one. I pulled it and now theidle is strong, I know their is an underlying issue, but for now getting to work is good enough for me. Also what is a good aftermarket carb for the stock g180 thats good on MPG. Thanks!!!

you might pull your plugs and see how fouled they are now, my old pontiac was very cold natured, and if it flooded out, I had to change the plugs to get it to start again, those good ol quadradogs..LOL
