I'm just curious if 5-spd tranny's were stock or something someone transferred from another vehicle in say 1979 4x4...

If it was transferred, what would they have transferred it from? I'm looking to improve economy...

isuzu trooper2s came whith 5spds and 4x4. Should be a direct bolt up if it comes from a 1.8L trooper.

I got a 5-speed for my stock motor out of a later diesel LUV. I don't know what year the trans was. I bought it from some import motor warehouse.

I changed mine to a 5 speed . A 79 Izuzu MarkIV car is a direct bolt up. You will need a Izuzu Pup input shaft for the front. The Cevy dealer told me that Luvs did not come with 5 speed. I did have to make sure that the clutch was cable not hydralic.

I have a 1985 S-10 2.2L diesel that has the s speed that I pan on putting in my 1981 luv 2.2L diesel.

The s-10 is 2x4 the luv is 4x4
