I took the filthy luv to the car wash and blasted the engine bay, hood, transmission, everything. I covered the dist, and now it is nice and clean, I need to replace the valve cover gasket. the carb bogs a little, so I put on a new fuel filter, now the sight glass dosen't bubble, I used carb cleaner and cleaned the carb, and adjusted the mixture and idle, it still bogs, tomorrow I am off so new plugs and cap, roter, points, I hope this will cure the bogging, if not do you think the fuel pump is getting bad?

I wish someone was close to me so I could drive their luv and see if it is, my truck or if it is a slow truck, LOL. anyway I'll get pics of the clean engine and post tomorrow.

Check your accelerator pump for starters to make sure you are getting plenty of fuel,Then try this, pull your vacuum advance hose off and plug it then raise your timing about 6-10* and see how it runs ,you well have to play it buy ear as you need it to start and not ping. What happens is when you floor the gas your vac. adv. drop out and you are only running on the mech. adv..If you have a good timing light check your total adv. with out the vac. adv. hooked up then you can go from there. You can get springs and work on the mech. adv. to change the adv. curve but if you are not good at wrenching find some body who knows how. There is more but lets see how you do for now.

If you can borrow a timing light with the adjustable adv. mode then you can check the timing curve as well as total timing. Try to find a racer close by that will give you a hand .
