Woo! Got my truck started again after not having any time to work with it much, I finally got to use my xmas gifts, a dwell meter, and a compression tester. ^_^
Got right around 125 compression on all 4 cylinders, my spark plug gap was a little wide(I'm gonna buy a new gap meter stick thingy...) and my points were all but touching from the carbon build up, so I gaped that out to where it should be, and got some new ones from the autoparts store. so once again I have been foiled by points, let this be a friendly reminder to all of us... God damn points. :)

So an 85 pup will work in a 77 luv eh? Is that an easy swap, vaccuum tubes etc? Are there other options I can consider... aside from carrying a feeler gauge and dwell meter in the bed? :)

I got a distributor out of a pup at a pick and pull for $30. It works great.

Haruspex, were there any other parts you had to order, or was everything in the kit.

to swap to the electronic pup dizzy you literally pull theold one out, hook the vac advance up same way as the old one.. one wire to (+) and one to (-) on the coil.. set the timing and your good to go. the conversion took me less than an hour

Everything was there. Took a grand total of 10 minutes to install.
