Can anyone tell me how to change my stock Luv alternator to a one wire alt.? I need to put another alternator on it anyway and I've had this single wire alt. laying around my garage for a while, just thought I might give it a try. Thanks

If I remember correctly, the alternator on the LUV tells some of the emission stuff what to do. So if you go to the 1 wire type you might have some trouble with the emissions stuff.

If you don't care about emissions or have removed everything, then I say go for it. You'll have to fabricate a bracket probably. If it's truly a 1 wire alternator, then just hook the one wire to your battery and your off.

I replaced mine with a Delco unit. I ran a single large guage wire directly to the battery and shorted the two feild wires together so the electric fuel pump would work. It is controlled by the regulator. So far it works great.
