Hey all, I'm getting 3 hitachis in the mail off e bay. The owner states that they ' need rebuilding for best performance' since i bought them, ill try them, but my dad says not to mess with them, and buy a weber. what do you guys think, should i fiddle with them hitachis? Thanks, Nick.

The stock carbs can be tricky to rebuild. Since you have them, try all 3 of them if 1 is good then away you go. I would buy a weber before I rebuilt a stock unit. Looks like father know's best.

Don't get your expectations to high on Hitachis, even if you do have three. I went through three and still didn't have a good one so changed to Weber. But maybe with three in hand, mine were one at a time, you might be able to build one good one out of the three.

I just did my Hitachi DCP 340. It is running like a kitten now. I was having trouble with an overheating exhaust but the fine tuning changed it to cooler. Plus it's all clean now. Here's some pics:
