Last week I towed my newest truck to my collection. I now have a 1976 Luv. It was free and I wasn't going to turn it down. 2wd short bed. Not in bad shape considering it has set for over 10 years. Last registered in 1992. Body is not bad. Bed is another story. It was used to haul irrigation supplies and materials. It has 203,000 miles on it. I'm told it has the english transmission in it as it has a Master Clutch Cylinder. I've never seen one of those before, has anyone else????

It's suppose to be running(?) but forget to get the key from the owner and he hasn't returned my phone calls, so i guess I'll have to buy a new iginition switch and battery before I can really check everything out. I do know the brakes still work real good. When I towed the truck home, I had to have a friend "drive" it. Front wheels wouldn't track with my truck.

Enough for now, My weekends will be filled with restoration on the 76.

Congrats on the addition to your truck family.

I have not had one but some years (I don't know which) had a hydraulic clutch. So it may not be anything unusual.

Ignition?? just grab them wires under there and touch the right ones and see if that thing will crank! You can get a switch any time later. :D

Went out to my 78 parts truck and got new tail gate, found a rebuilt master clutch cylinder with slave cylinder and piping attatched! :!: Some interior parts and misc. screws, bolts, etc. Hooked up a battery, and have power to altenator, voltage regulator, and the first five fuses on the fuse box. But, But, since it constantly rains here on the weekends, I haven't been able to work on the 76. Bummer, still need iginition switch, but found one at Motion Auto parts for 23.00 or just the tumbler with 2 keys for 11.00. Bet you can't guess which one I'll buy. Figure I can always take the door lock to a locksmith and have them fix to work with the new keys. That's the update for now.

Dan

MY truck sat for over year one I bought it. Make sure you clean out all the fluids: Oil, raditor, brake fluid, etc. I also boiled out my gas tank and had it sealed.

Am I on a freebie streak or what :D . Found a rear bumber for the 76. needs a little tweaking here an there, but will work. Got a pair of bucket seats for my 80, color matches interior, going to install this weekend, oh yea both were free. Guy drove by,, and saw my Luv's sitting in the driveway, "don't need them anymore" Great answer, I'll take em!!!!!
