how do u get the shifter arm off on the inside on a manual transmission? somebody told me it was attached to the transmission so i have to get a longer 1 if i am gonna get a body lift. i will be getting pics of my project truck pretty soon so i will scan them and post them

Going from memory I thing I remember a small plate that holds the shifter into the tail housing. So yank the rubber boot off (or at least out of the way) then you should see a plate at the base of the shifter, it should have three bolts, just undo the bolts and the assembly should come right out. There is a small plastic bushing on the end of it, so just be careful not to lose it or break it. I am not sure where you will find a longer shifter arm. I would also think a 3" lift would not be so much that you need a longer arm. But that's just my opinion.

I have a 76 with 5" of lift and it has the original. I really can't tell any difference.
