i posted a topic in the 4x4 section upon my completion of putting toyota suspension under my 80 4x4 luv.everything was running fine until the other day.i had been driving it for about a week and was going home and came to a stop and it would not stay running.well i got it home a checked a few things a did not see any thing out of wack.i checked my inline fuel filter and it was clean.i tried to adjust the carb but it did not help any(weber)i cleaned the points a reset them.that seemed to help it power wise but not in the idle department.any help would be much needed.

I'm thinking a vac leak.

Check all them vac lines. If the points got a little funky it might have sputtered and sneezed through the carb a bit and blown one of them off. My 79 liked to do that every once in a while, and of course it was one of the lines on the engine side of the carb where it was hard to get to.

Check the EGR valve. If sticks open, it wont idle but the truck runs good with the throttle open.
A couple of hits with a big wrench will usually free it up. If you can get a good look at it, you shouldn't see the shiny part of the stem with the motor shut off.

Will your truck stay running if you keep pumping the gas? Mine is like that but sometimes it runs ok. I don't know what's wrong with mine. If anyone does please reply.

You said you have been driving it one week. Is that how long you've had it?

Ok. So it drove ok for a year, and then you did the suspension swap, and then you had problems, right?

I don't know what happens with this type of swap. Did you keep the luv tank and fuel filter at the frame?

Buddy you might check the voltage regulator.I had a 72 mazda pu and the vr went out on it causing it not to keep an idle. Lucky it was a stick so I could get it started but had to keep it in a high idle. If it drop to normal idle it would cut off.

i checked all the vac lines and egr valve yesterday and everything seemed to be ok.but still no idle.i am going to check the voltage regulator like johnboy stated. its really starting to tick me off cause its finally built and now i cant drive the dang thing
