I'm new to the site and was just wondering if any one knew where I might find a fuel tank for an 81 Luv?

Thanks

Louisville Mississippi. About 2 1/2 hours from Memphis and 2 1/2 hours from Birmingham

Wow... the only other Mississippi person on the whole site???

I live in Horn Lake, just 2 miles away from Memphis.

What's wrong with your existing tank? I'm about to break down and get mine cleaned and lined at the local radiator shop here in town. As far as getting a used one, they're all metal and usually rusty. JC Whitney used to sell an aftermarket plastic one, but not anymore.

The 81 LUV should have the same tank as the early isuzu pup's, so that might help. Good luck.

Some one gave me the Luv a couple of months ago. Before that, it sat in the guys yard for about 3 years. I got it running but after about a week it would crank, but only run for about 30 sec. I checked the fuel filter between the tank and the pump and it was full of rust. I then took the tank off and it was also full of rust. It's to the point that I don't think that it can be cleaned out. I'm going to check around the local radiator shops and see what they tell me.

you may be able to throw a gas tank from an 80 isuzu trooper in there. Seems everything else is interchangeable whith them and the luv.

The radiator shop out here will line it with a warranty. I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $125 dollars, but they clean it, and line it with some kind of teflon or something, and guarantee that it'll stay clean.

Memphis is kind of a long drive for just that, but maybe one out there will do it?
