Hello all. O.k, broke down and got the weber carb. Now, am looking at headers on line. I've seen two types available. One is a longer tube, that sort of sweeps towards the back. The other is four tubes sort of shooting straight down into a right angle collector. I have a 1.8. Can anyone comment on which of these headers you may have used, and the results you got? As well, if anyone has a header for sale, PM me. Thanks.

I got the Pacesetter Header. Spend a little extra for the ceramic coating. They fit very well and look awesome. The power band is somewhat extended. I am very happy with mine. How do you like the webber? That is the next trick for my rat if I ever can find a driven gear for the speedo and a gas tank sending unit!

Jimbo are you missing your gas tank sending unit or is it just not working. My sending unit was not working so I dropped the tank and took the sending unit out and worked on it. Either it was suck and wouldn't work or the unit was lose and when the float would go up and down the piece of metal on the float was not rubbing against the sending unit there by not sending a signal to the gauge.

Thanks for the heads-up re: being able to fuss with the sending unit. I think you are on the right track as far as mine is concerned. It is intermittent as to whether it want to send a signal or not. A very good electrical shop determined it to be a faulty unit; something about the variable resestor thingy not touching or being wore out/through. I like your idea of something being loose. Now all I have to do is work up enough courage to pull the bed off and have a look see.
Thanks,
Jimbo

Sorry for the delayed response. Weber is nice. Engine purrs, is very responsive. Which Pacesetter did you get? I've seen two models. Do your tubes shoot toward the ground, and then turn towards the rear, or do they do the slow sweep back?

I would have call mine the sweeper type. Ordered off Ebay; the ceramic coating was a suprise as it came in my favorite color-chrome like! :)
