I too will flush some cheap oil through it to check for metal shavings I also like to use magnate drain plugs and magnate filter covers. They are great for picking up metal shavings but of course they don't work on bearing meterial so of course you have to change the oil to do this. The above method was just how I do a normal basic low budget engine, I am a lot more tedious with my system of breaking in a higher budget build. Which then you normally have to include breaking in the cam and yaddah yaddah yaddah....In other words they are many methods I have several of my on which I use based on type of parts, style, and budget. I agree with TJ he is absolutely white! Oil is cheap and every extra step you take is just cheap insurance and maybe even added confidence.

Yeah that may be the best to ease all the stress just lit it all settle then take in dice in with a fresh train of thoughts... as dottie said it's a new year, it will hold new life for the little luv I just know it.

This thread is a chronicle of what I had hoped would me driving by now. The failure that I have met with is going to keep me down for some time and is somewhat epitomized by the current weather conditions. It's 25° outside, and most of the snow that fell a couple days ago is still here. While other states have it much worse, we in Washington do not deal with this every year as some do. All the progress on the LUV is frozen solid, and nothing is happening. I can say it sits outside where it has been for the last four months, with the tarp overhead. My ambition is also at a low and I don't know what good will come of it, but my wife and son are tired of walking and so am I.

I will look at the LUV later.

Sorry Fulla, know what you are going through, first off I hate working on my vehicles when it is below 40 outside. When I put the V6 in my truck, took me a few months and after I got it all installed, I bent 2 rods and spun a bearing driving it to the first car show. Needless to say, the used motor I bought wasnt in as good as shape as I thought it was. The truck sat in the garage for 9 months before I got up the ambition to put in another motor. I didnt even go in the garage at all during that time I was so pi$$ed off. Hopefully you dont take that long to get it running again!!!

Today I plan to go look at another LUV, in the hopes of using the parts from it to complete mine. It's a 4x4 though, and some thought will be toward going to using the 4x4 setup. I have no experience with a 4x4, and I wonder if the running gear will fit the body I already have. Most likely if I had the both of them, I would want to pass the parts I don't use along to someone who wants them. I will take my camera, so y'all will see what I find. I am aware that I haven't yet looked into my own to find the cause of the breakdown, so I am proceeding with caution.

This frozen weather is finally starting to ease up and melt and I am sure glad!! Maybe I'll get my hands dirty again today...

Here's the photos of the truck I looked at. I haven't decided whether I want it or not. There's some things missing, and the block is cracked.

Hey John:

Where did you find this one? Is this at the same place you got your visors?

If you buy this one you'll have to change the title of this thread to be plural.

The snow is gone, no more excuses... get that engine apart. :-)

Eric my Microsoft LUV buddy! You many splendored fella! It will stay singular cuz I won't have two goals, just the one. No it was a different place. I did inquire there though, (where the visors came from), and he is coming by tomorrow to show me another one. I hope I can get one cheap. I don't want to pay someone to part with it, just to get rid of it.

I expect it would piss the neighbor off if I got a parts truck. I know who to call if I need someone to watch my back!!

Going to help a lady work on her computer today...won't check the LUV until later today. :D

I hadn't noticed! That's true, the vents were filled! Huh! I don't know why.

Here's the front fender of this truck. Pretty beaten.

I think that the way things are handled can be the difference between a good outcome and a bad one. If he had walked over and introduced himself and said he worked late hours and would appreciate you not making any noise until 9:00 am you may have had a different reaction. It's over the top now, so I would go to the police and tell them you are working on your truck temporarily and plan to have it on the road soon, and that you don't want any trouble, but you need to finish your truck. That way they will have record of it, and you will find out exactly what you have to do.

Dude, you aren't supposed to say where I work. Everyone on the internet seems to hate MS... It's too bad cuz it's one of the best companies to work for.

Yeah, I got your back. Of course I may ask for a similiar favor some day ;-)

Enough off topic chat, get your engine apart. Everyone's dying from the suspense.

Eric....I have been in the IT business for a long time and own my own PC repair /sales business and I also do small business web desgn and hosting...and I can honestly tell you that no one I know truly hates all of the employees that work at MS.

Everyone may despise Bill Gates for his shady business tactics, or the fact that he is still trying to sell a 7 year old crappy OS for more than when it first came out...when the combined total size of all the fixes, patches, and updates you have to download just to use it are nearly as large as the original file....and you need to buy a ton of third party programs just to prop it up, protect it, and keep it running for at least 6 months.

Or that he constantly whines about how broke he is because people keep pirating his over-priced crummy software...from the deck of his huge yacht while reading in forbes magazine how unbelievably rich he is...even though he built his business by lying, cheating, strong-arming, and ripping all of the other software developers in the whole world off....and buying his way out of any trouble he got into for it.

Or that he takes his little meglo-maniac control-freak butt and flies it in his private jet and carries it by his huge private yacht all over the world bragging about "his" great software...when everyone knows he can't code his way to the toilet and back....and that as a programmer he really blows worse than Katrina did.

But hate anyone for working for him and taking as much of his money to feed their family and pay their bills as they can...I think not.

So...Arrrgh Mateys!...fly the skull and crossbones flag proudly.

If you get my drift....lol

Maybe I've got the wool pulled over my eyes, but I really like Microsoft, and Bill Gates would be welcome in my home ANYTIME. I know he couldn't have done all he's accomplished without the help of thousands of others, and finding good help is hard these days. No doubt there have been some scandalous occurrences in the progress the company has made, but I hardly believe the blame should be placed on his singular persona.

I just love computer people and that includes Taz and Eric! You're both welcome too!

Luvstruck; Doofuss was bellyachin' after 10 AM!! The laws here say 7 AM on weekdays. Weekends are 9 AM. He was wrong, and I would have called the police, but I had the ball rolling on the LUV and that was more important to me that day. Next time I will do a 911.

I almost forgot to say that it shouldn't be more than a few days before I've checked out my LUV, and decided on that other truck for parts. As far as being off topic, I really think it's all great stuff and we should all be thankful for the pleasure of LUVTruck.com. I will be checking out another LUV this weekend as well. We gotta win somehow.

tumwatertaz: Hillarious reply. I laughed out loud.

I surely wouldn't be so blind as to think Bill never did any dubious business tactics but I can personally say as a company they do many generous things. We have an employee charity giving campaign that is matched dollar for dollar by MS and this year we surpassed the 2.5 Billion mark in total charitable contributions... yes, billion. That should buy back some Karma???

O.K. That's that last off topic post for me.

I liked the comment on MS and Bill Gates but these bid business guys didn't get there by being nice guys in fact there are no honest big business tycoons. Thats enough of that rant. Ok Fullaluv now you have parts lets start the tear down so you can get some help if need be and get you back on the road.

No I don't have parts, but I am going to get off here in a few minutes and go do it, finally. I need to look at my crank first before I go getting another parts truck. We won't keep Eric Q in suspense any longer he's coming after me and I can't run as fast as him...

Later today, okay.
