ok, my dad has now discovered, maybe it's still the carb. He had a 72 charger 440 mag. w/ a 4bbl on it. He said that he constantly adjusted the thing and couldn't get the carb to work correctly, it turns out the sec valves were supp. to stay open a frac. of an inch but they weren't. Could this be my problem? If so how do i adjust it??

alrighty, now i need help routing the vac. What puzzles me is that the "back pressure transducer" has, what looks like, 3 vac. ports on it, to on top, one on the bottom, the two on top are labeled on the part and in the diagram but the bottom one isn't metioned! Is this a vent or something, b/c on the truck i took it from it was connected to a metal tube that went under the intake mani. and i had no time to check since the owner of the junkyard would've released his gaurd dogs any sec. since it was near closin' time...

But newayz, is it a vent?

The bottom one is the back pressure port and goes down to the EGR valve. Usually it connects to a metal tube that sticks out from under the intake just like the description you gave of the truck you got it from. Somewhere around 78-79 it was added to the setup, so an older EGR valve won't have the connection for it. If you don't have the connection to the EGR, don't put the BP transducer on. It is basically just a vac switch that disables EGR for low backpressure situations. Without the BP signal hooked up, the EGR valve won't be coming on much at all.

but vac. from the BP the vac. contrl. valve and EGR go into a single T connector... so wouldn't it get signal there? I really wish we were in the same place so i could so ya... the vac. diagram on the hoods crap i think... there's no signal pipe on mine but a vac. tube that connects to that T i mentioned. So should i just run a tube from the Therm. valve to the T and the other connection to the EGR valve tube that's on it and the VCV?
