I was never considering making homemade ones on my own. I just don't have the knowledge. If I get them done it will be from a professional manufacturing company. If the price can be reasonable for a very close or perfect match to the original (probably $200 - $300 range??) then I am all for getting them done. Like I said, I have done some research and contacted one company a few months ago and I will be contacting others before I do anything. The process is vacuum injection molding and would require 2 molds. I am sure there is enough interest, I know I can use 2 or even 3 someday myself, but it depends on what the costs will be and how many I would have to have made for a minimum run. If I had to buy 1,000 of them, well then I don't think that is feasible. I am sure a minimum wouldn't be that high, but who knows. This is why I want to get all the information for more than one company and then go from there and come up with a price range and then gauge interest like I did with the manifolds. This way we can have a quality product, priced decent and from a reliable source. Unless I croak or something!
I don't have any problem with you guys making homemade ones. I actually contemplated it, but I just know I don't have the tools or knowledge and I just don't want to make half assed stuff not knowing what I am doing. I am sure it would be worth it to have these done right and today's materials should be much better quality than from 30+ years ago! I will definitely let you guys know what other information I find.
