Hey, everybody here seems to be offering a helping hand. I posted asking for help. Greed has nothing to do with reviving a dead classic.

If you can help, then great. Otherwise, kindly keep your comments to yourself. It's counter productive....

I swear, some people have no "cents" and without any intention of making any. They just keep stiring the shit they're already in.

I suppose if we all lived in a place where the sun shines but a couple days out of the year, We'd have nothing better to do but stir shit up either.

What a loser!

Look...since you were a lurker and now you are a newbie here...I'll make this real simple for you:

While you are out looking for an engine for a truck that you kinda poached away from an old-time member here that really needed it...tough guy...why don't you pick up a sense of humor and sign up for some anger management classes while you are at it.

Because the last time I checked...barking at people and ordering them around for making a little joke when you want something from them just doesn't really work out that well.

So if you are going to get your undies all in a bunch and go all "keyboard warrior" just because you just snagged a free truck that is going to cost you quite a few bucks to get it all pimped out...and a few of us are teasing you a little bit about it...then you might want to think long and hard about whether you really want our help here or not.

We are a pretty casual and friendly bunch here that tends to rib each other a bit sometimes...because that's what big people that get trucks that they already know how to fix up do...but we still do try our best to help and support each other here as much and as often as possible.

There is already plenty of useful helpful information here for you to find...if you bother to appreciate and respect all of the hard work it took to put it here in the first place...and bother to take the time to do a search for it.

And if you mind your manners...then we all still just might try to help you out a bit.

So lighten up...knock off the name calling...and lose the attitude...FFS.

Hey ... I have a great sense of humor. It's just what comes out of your trap is neither helpful nor humorous. I've read your other posts and you seem like a very knowledgable fella. I'm sorry I took your comments the wrong way but I don't know you or your sense of humor. I will grow a gigantic pair and stop the name calling and lose the attitude.

I'll take your advice and do a little research before anything else. Nothing personal to anybody who may have gotten offened by my rude comments. I just took it the wrong way. My apologies, once again, to you Taz. I'm sure your a great guy, very knowledgable at that, I just don't you or your sense, that's all.

I'm willing to put this behind us, if you are.

Did you read that post of mine about that engine? I am sure it will not work in your application.

I'm going by tonight, to the guys house to check it out. I may just take the engine and trans together. Any hope that this engine and trans combo will work together for my 80 LUV?

Thanks for your help !!

If I am not mistaken the 75 engine is the early model that wont fit the later model trans and such. Early model= intake and exhaust on 1 side Late=intake and exhaust on different sides and starter on opposite side of early.

I C!!!

I'll pretty much have to use everything he's got! We'll C.

thanks for your help, again!

Hey part time. luvrv8 is correct. the newer motor came out in 76 I think. anyway, we're in the same boat. I'm looking for an engine for my 79 4x4. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a second runner. it occurs to me that if you can't find one , we could put one on a pallet and truck ship it to s. cal for less than the cost of a rebuild kit. if i can find them that is. Good luck E.

Yeah ... I'll keep my eyes peeled for later engines ... I know of one other one in the Bay Area but the place wants like $450!! Ouch !!

Anyhoot ... thanks for your help !!!

No harm done...and no blood drawn...so I'll live...lol

But you need to realize that you have a pretty rare old truck...and a lot of Luv owners have already owned a bunch of these things...so they would never go looking for one without first tracking down the parts they would need first.

And a lot of Luv owners here and everywhere else on this planet have tons of parts stock-piled that they won't part with...so finding a stock engine intact and running good isn't going to be very cheap or very easy...and even harder for a 4X4.

You see..if a 2WD's engine takes a dump..there is a lot of possibilities to go with to replace it...like a V8 or V6 swap, a bigger Isuzu engine, etc...but in a 4x4...you are pretty limited with what you can do because it all has to bolt up to your running gear.

Most guys rebuild their old engine(which isn't cheap)...or get one from someone that has replaced theirs in a 2WD with something bigger to use for parts(which are all pretty much gone already)..or they try to find one from a boneyard (which is darn near impossible)...so you may have a real problem finding one at all.

If you do...and you get it up and running..you will immediately figure out why we here are all so crazy about them...lol

So prepare yourself for a pretty troublesome and expensive adventure with your new truck...and if that's not what you really want to do...now would be a good time to cut your losses and bail.

Because...when you are up to your ass in aligators...it's a poor time to decide whether it really was a great idea to take that short cut through the swamp.

Good luck!
