mytmouz, here's a couple views. Thanks all you guys. I'm really tickled by all the good comments. I think a lot of you have better trucks than mine though. I am just trying to get it going. I still have a ways to go...

I found a crack in the exhaust manifold coming off the weld put there over an existing crack. Now I went and ordered one from a wrecking yard. What is causing the manifold to overheat? Do you think maybe the prior condition of the engine, with the blown head gasket, brought water into the exhaust and could have over time rusted out the muffler and is causing impedance to the flow of exhaust?

I think Por-15 makes some tube stuff, like tooth paste for doing small holes too.

Did you use sliver and black por-15? paint the black while it was still stickey? I never tried 2 colors. It can be a pain to paint a color on top, from what I have tried...

It looks good too.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Yes Richard, I followed the instructions. They say within 24 hours after to apply the next coat, or with a slight drag to touch. The two colors and more were included in the kit, and I have here the link for you to see for yourself. Everything you need comes in the box! Even the gloves fit!

Did you use por15 on the underneath aswell?
Or is is good enough just on one side?
I know the underneath of my Luv is a little rusty, but I dont want to pull the bed and cab off to paint it.

I painted some black POR-15 on the bottom yesterday. This kit comes with a small can of solvent. It says you need to remove it asap before it dries on your skin if you get it on your skin. I got it almost in the eye, a big blob. I had it all over one side of my nose, and almost inhaled it! I had a small mirror and used a shop towel and some solvent to get it off. Wish I'd had a full-face mask! The solvent burned on my face, and I had to rush in the house to wash it with soap and water. I'm okay now, but feeling pretty stupid for not at least putting on my goggles. I'm supposed to put another coat on, and I will for sure, before it rolls anywhere in the rain. It's raining today. The cab is all dry under the tarp.

I still have to change the manifold, and the timing cover gasket and the bypass hose.

On the link in my previous post, you can find a PDF to download which will show you the instructions for POR-15, the same as included in the kit.

Stubble, if you did do that work, your frame would outlive you. Your choice.

In case anyone is interested in doing this or just finding out about POR-15...

The POR-15 comes from a place called Restomotive Laboratories/POR-15, Inc., P.O. Box 1235, Morristown, N.J. 07962-1235. Telephone orders at 1-800-457-6715 (M-F 9 to 5 EST) Website: http://www.por15.Com

I bought the floorpan kit for $138.50 plus $15.75 shipping. Expensive! I was very intrigued by the promise of no more rust and permanent repair. The kit comes with a bunch of stuff and clear instructions. The website has the instructions in PDF format. It is important to follow the instructions in the right order and the stuff really works! First, there's a degreaser, then a rust neutralizer, followed by a silver rust-preventative paint, and then not one, but two separate topcoats. It takes a schedule of following the procedure in proper order, and the results were a hard black shell that was very gratifying to see in place of the hole that once was. I used the masks that came with the kit, also set up a fan to create ventilation while applying the paint, and heated the area to accelerate the drying process.

They have a very nice full-color catalog that you will get with your order. You might try calling first to ask for a catalog.

Here's a fresh look at the POR-15 project for Puckett.

I removed three icons that had been changed in Photobucket from the earlier post above, and replaced it with a better photo for mytmouz, who had asked about the exterior. I also changed the one photo that was still working to work better or expand. The first reason I was here was that I was looking for the floor restoration to show Puckett, who had asked about the floorpan restoration on another thread. This thread was way back on the fifth page of stock trucks and I thought it would be easier for Puckett to find if I left a post to bring it up to the forefront.
