So I towed the truck to the local shop & they had it for a hour. It runs again. The condensor went out. So the only big problem is it doesn't want to idle correctly & dies if I don't play the gas. He said something is wrong with the idle circuit. He showed me what is up. The anti-diesil selinoid doesn't turn on until the truck is turned over or running, but the strange thing is when it's unplugged while the truck is running.... it keep's running. WTF? It get's power and the needle moves when hit with voltage. He think's there could be some blockage inside the carb(idle circuit) but I rebuilt it totally 1 time & partially 2 weeks ago(est. time). Any idea's anybody?

Is the solenoid itself any good or even working? Symptoms sound like it is staying closed all the time. I think your mechanic is correct, when the idle circuit is not working you then have to make it idle by opening the throttle too much causing the main system to flow fuel. This results in a very unstable idle. You need to measure it's resistance with a good ohm meter, maybe remove it and apply power to see if it moves/clicks. Carefull, don't loose the small spring that may come out with it.

He said it get's power only when starting or engine is running & he said he hit it with 12v when removed & it actuated. I should check for myself as he said he doesn't hear it click at all though. so if it isn't working correctly, the engine can still run with it unplugged by idle up too far? I noticed sometimes that my idle will be like 1400 when in neutral after driving on the freeway as well. I thought it was to cut fuel so it wouldn't run. How do I do the ohms test? On the solenoid? I have a good tester(a fluke)

The idle stop solenoid will have no effect on stopping the engine if the throttle is opened too far like in your case. It is getting its fuel to idle past the partly open throttle plate. Your mechanic is correct, the idle circuit is not working.
He checked the solenoid itself and said it is working, I agree. So lets look at something else here---I know you cleaned out all the ports, during the rebuild which should have removed any dirt from the idle circuit, but how about the bottom gasket you had to seal properly? Did you just replace it with a new one or make one yourself? If so did you make sure that any holes/ports were not covered by the gasket? The idle circuit feeds fuel down from the carb body to the throttle body through a tiny hole and ends up below the throttle plate. Make sure this gasket is not blocking any holes there.
I would use the stock gasket there, file down that dowel pin a bit to make it seat if you have to.
Anyhow another important area to check.

great advice egg. I am using a stock gasket now. removed the other one and made sure nothing was blocking at all. I think I will have to take it apart to make sure the passages are all free and clear. I wonder what to do if that doesn't fix it. I'd like to find a weber but I have no idea what vehicles have them, so I can search the boneyard.

So the truck is running now, but very rich & inconsistant idles(too-low or too-high) Still wondering what used vehicles have the webers on them that I could use.
