well after a weekend of fun in the mud whith my truck the tranny has started making some interesting noises. When i push in the clutch or hit big bumps i hear rely metalic rattle and its borderline grinding at times. It sounds like its right under the cab. Is it a throw out bearing, im leaning this way becouse it only realy does it after the truck has run a bit and when i push the clutch in. Anny imput from you guys...

It sounds like the throw out bearing is on its last leg. Worst case senearo is the out put bearing in the tranny, if they even have one! Good luck

Well you replied ot m tranny problem on PS, so I'll reply to yours on here..just like the others ahve said sounds like the throw out bearing. My nissan was doing this after the bearign got muddy and wet, (cuased rust on it) I replaced it and have no noise now. One othe rthing, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RUBBER BOOT that coveres the arm that the slave cylinde rpushes, if you let mud up in there, it will tear some stuff up (tore a brand new clutch out of the nissan becuase of this) Mine got rocks and mud between the finger son the pressure plate and it slipped to beat hell

If your going into the clutch, might i suggest you inspect the pilot bearing on the end of the crankshaft. If it goes bad, it makes a howling noise and it makes the tranny hard to shift. I made the mistake of not checking mine out when i went thru the clutch. Mine was so wasted that i had to pull the motor to remove the old one. It would save you alot of aggrivation if you make sure it's good. I had to learn the hard way.

no i highly doubt its anything having to do whith the motor, i just rebuilt it (Full rebuild) about 12,000miles ago. Im perty shure its tranny stuff, all of the drive train is all original (never been rebuilt) so i just ordered a tranny rebuild kit ($145 not too bad i figure).
But thanks for the sugestions guys, ill check that crank bearing too.

Where did you order a rebuild kit from? I checked with all the usual places around here and no one can locate one for mine.
