Has anyone bought a CST 6032 gas cap for a LUV? Does it look like a factory gas cap? Does it fit correctly?
The gasket seal is wasted on mine. It still works but i'd like to fix it up.

dunno about that particular. i'll have to look at the one I bought from Advance Auto; I got a locking cap the day after Katrina hit, does the trick just fine, and I don't worry about gas theft (or sabotage, for that matter).

The CST 6032 cap is a non-locking cap. I had a cap stolen years and years ago and when i replaced it, i etched the licence plate# and my SSN on the inner surface. I've had that cap for so long that i really dont want to remove it but it wont fit tight to the filler.

I got a Stant locking gas cap and it doesn't work worth using. I left the old stock cap on. I plan to return the new one. I would like to have something on there that will work, but I've been led to believe there's nothing that will work. Just put a Smith & Wesson sticker by the gas cap and maybe that'll work unless you happen to get ripped off by some illiterate idiot.

I had a cap that stopped sealing on another brand vehicle before. I took the rubber gasget off another cap and added to mine. I don't know if it will work with your caps, but it's worth a shot.

All in due time. I got the engine to reassemble first. I will take the cap back and try to find a better fit. It might be the gasket is too thick.

I found a non locking Stant that is chrome with a black strip / handle across the center. Looks stock and seals and works well. I'll try to get the part # for you.

I suppose a new one would seal the passage well, but I wanted to deter thieves as well. I've seen the new ones on eBay I think, but I never thought about getting one. Funny how some things jar our thinking while others don't seem to register. That's better than leaving it with the old worn out gasket. The evaporation and hazard should be stopped, huh.

Part # please. :)

Can't find the box. No # on the cap. Here are a couple pics of it though. I got it at Pep Boys, it is a Stant.
I had a locking one that you could take off without using the key. So I guess it was the wrong cap for the truck. :D

And yes, the rest of the truck is dirty and water spotted like the cap. Talk to my son about that..... he won't listen to me. :x

I already have that one. He won't listen to me either. I don't know what to say. How about, "Tell your dad to get out there and polish that truck, Sir!"

rondog, can you show a pic of the underside? So far it looks correct.

Go back up and look. I took a pic of the bottom for you and stuck in that post.

That's better. I can say your gasket looks nicer, and therefore it would be worth having, but I would like to lock it up. I guess that type of filler neck is hard to lock. I'm just gonna have to try to steer around the kleptos.

I got the same stant gas cap and new out of the box, it failed the pressure test at the inspection station. I told him it was brand new so he tried it again and it worked the second time. That was two years ago in AZ. Yesterday I took th truck to be inspected in DC and the gas cap failed again. I gotta get a new one, I guess, it still looks brand new. Is there something I can do to the gasket to make it have a better seal? Put grease on it or something?

Pressure test? Inspection station? You mean my old gas cap could cause me to fail the inspection if and when I ever get there? I better start looking to replace the one I have, cuz the gasket is all worn out. Redluv? Are those locking caps?

This is an old post but the Stant cap like rondog shows is a good one for the filler necks like my '80. Napa and Pep Boys carry it and it looks good on the truck. The one Blue Meanie mentions is a CST cap carried by AutoZone and the one I got looks nothing like the stock one

I have electrical tape wrapped around my caps where the rubber seal is gone. The cap fits tighter and haven't had any trouble.
