OK, maybe I am a little behind here but can someone tell what the difference you all are talking about pertaining to the G1800 nd G2000 motors.
Just trying to update my knowledge about these little trucks.

Just a slightly larger cylinder bore, and thus a little more horsepower. I'm not speaking from experience, just mechanical learning. There could be other differences in the construction of the engine, I can't say. I'm working on the G180 this week, if I get out there and brave the cold frozen fingers!

G180Z (1816cc/110.8c.i.) was original to Isuzu P'ups in 81 - 83, RWD I-marks (81 - 85), and the only gas eng ever offered in Chevy Luvs.
G200Z (1950cc/119c.i.) was introduced in the 83 Isuzu Impulse and offered in that vehicle thru 87 (turbo 4Z motor option starting in 85).
P'up was a yr behind with the G200Z being the gas std eng beginning 84 thru 88 and a non-turbo 4Z 2.3 litre gas version option available beginning in 86.
The eng serial # is stamped on the block

Just to clarify, although the G and 4Z series motors are similar, they are very different motors. the 4Z series motors range in size from 2.0 to 2.6, the dizzy is mounted on the back side of the cylinder head and they use a timing belt rather than a timing chain
