not a real good mechanic but it looks like i either have the wrong pan or timing chain cover this is from an early series luv any help would be great

ok i don't know alot about those early engines but it looks like either your pan is on backwords or it's the wrong one.

That is the wrong oil pan, the early one's are alum and 2 pieces. There is no way that will work. You have to find a early pan. Also I can not tell from the pics, but the early pan stops before the timing gear pulleys on the crank and seals up to a plate that the cover bolts to. The pan on there now is longer, but I am worried that some one cut down the plate to add that pan. If so, you will have to replace the plate as well (the motor mounts bolt on the plate as well). Remove the cover and get me a pic of the crank area and I will be able to tell more.

you are missing something. ill look at myn and let you know .

i have the same oil pan on myn. its a 1 piece.the 72 had the 2 piece pan. dont know about 73? myns a 74.

That pan fits the 1.8L4's from 76 to 81,,, the timing cover is from 71 to 75's....

so i need an oil pan that will actually work anybody got one cheap im on a tight budget
