well i dropped the oil out of my tranny today and found some little guys hanging out on the drain plug. I pulled out 3 pieces of metal, none of them any bigger than an unpoped peice of popcorn. But still im just wondering where they came from and how long untill something goes boom...
Guess i better pull the 79s tranny and have it ready...

Hey Mepr,

How do you like your 48 Pontiac with the flathead? My dad is building a 29 Model A with a 52 Ford Flathead. 8)

Yep, have fun, on the diesels you have to almost put them in position, turn it sideways, wiggle it up, turn it right-side-up, then TRY to put the input shaft in the pilot bearing.... which is hard, we had to taper the shaft so i'd slide in better, even then we had to put in a couple of bolts to tighten it up and draw it in, we had to try to put it in three times before we got it in.

Sounds like your an know quite a bit on Flatheads. My dad has his motor in a Shop in sacamento that specalies in older motors.

Between 2 loves, I've pulled the transmission out quite a few times that i got it down pretty quickly. Escpecially now that I have a removable crossmember for the 5 speed.
