OK, put in a coil and gapped the points today. Still no spark. Parts store didn't have a condensor and that is the last (I think) thing that hasn't been replaced on my son's '78 Luv. When we put a test light on the coil resistor and the key is on we have power at both terminals, I assume the resistor is good.

Anyway, where is the condensor supposed to mount? The one on there now is attached by wire to the distrubutor, but the bracket on the condensor itself is not attached to anything, it is just hagning by the wire. Where is this supposed to mount?

o.k., took a vice-grip and clamped the condensor bracket to a metal piece and she fired right up. Guess it had to be grounded :D

Now I just need to find the correct spot to permanently mount it.

The condensor should be hooked to the distributor with the screw that hold the vacuum advance in. It should be the only screw within the length of the wire to the condensor.

Since he used vice grips on his condensor, I am gonna run out there now and do the same. I am stranded at work - she was running then died and couldn't get her started again. I am suspecting the condensor since she is getting gas but no spark out of the coil.

Well, it was the condensor. SO now she is repaired and working like a champ.

She did overhead, so I took my old water pump and switched it. The one that was in there had alot of crap in it. So i put the new one in and she don't seem to get so mad.
