can i use the deisel block but use all the parts from the gas like head intake front timing cover and oil pan. isn't the diesel a 2.2l? and will it bolt up to the gas tranny? i think if this is possible i would be pretty cool.

i'm not a diesel expert or anything, but i would think not. I know diesels have higher compression, so it probably wouldn't be wise to use the gas aluminum head if it even bolted up. :?:. and if the head doesn't fit then other stuff probably wouldn't either. Like i said though I'm no expert and the only work i've done on them is change oil . Don't diesels use a form of fuel injection ?

same here, no expert, but because of the compression, a lot of heads have like 30% more head bolts. Probably wont line up. Also is there a spot for a distributor in the block, and gears for it on the crank.

Its a phononm0onommomnnomn....menon.

I couldn't see the 1.8 liter gas engine and 2.2 liter diesel engine being similar in the engine parts. You would have better luck if you tried the 1.9 liter or 2.3 liter gas engines from the Isuzu PUP.
