hey everyone, I am putting in a new clutch on my 79, and I am wondering if anyone has any makeshift strategies for removing the camshaft berring, I dont have a slide hammer or a berring puller, any advice would be appreciated

you do mean the pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft?

well....i've frozen one with new freon(r132a) before to get it out.....
other than that you'll need to get a puller.....i'd bet you could rent one from a kragen(schucks, checker, etc.)

thats exactly what I mean, sorry for my ignorance. Ya, after extensive thought, I called up a friend and he had a puller, thats interesting how you froze yours though, did it work well?

it works good enough to use a pick to pull the old bearing out..... i use this trick to get sealed wheel bearings in and out of steering knuckles on newer cars.....it keeps me from needing a press.

another thing you can do is to pack a heavy grease in the bearing, and using a punch that fits extremely well, drive out the bearing. can get messy though.
