I need a new windshield visor. I broke the plastic mount. Will the Trooper visor mount ok? How about an S10?

I tried one out of a Dodge Dakota, it might work with some modification.
the main post is a little bigger, and I think the pattern that that bolts the triangle shaped base to the roof is off a little.

My 86 Trooper has the same plastic mounts. The visors themselves look longer so they probably would not work, but the plastic mount should fit. I've been thinking about a rework idea on these for a while, having going through a few of them myself. I think if you cut out a piece of sheetmetal and backed the broken plastic with it it would just about work, except that the shaft doesn't go through at a right angle. Maybe somebody will figure out how to cast a replacement out of aluminum or something.

Yes the trooper's will fit.

Funny you should say that about the aluminum 800xl, reminds me that I have to check and see if the machine shop has gotten anything done on mine... Not paying for it or otherwise having a set machined would be way too much $$.

I took the visors out of a Trooper for my 79 LUV. The visors were too long, but it only took about ten minutes to put the LUV visors onto the Trooper mounts. It's just a spring loaded nut if I remember correctly.

Okay, I'll check out the junkyard for a LUV or Trooper after all the mud dries out.

Robert, you will probably find out that the trooper is going to be easier to find the plastic deals in good shape. At least that's what I've seen. The only thing I haven't found with them is the color I want! lol But some good vinyl spray will take care of that nicely...

I tried the ones out of a trooper and when I had them both on, they overlapped. I guess you could cut them down?
Let me know if anybody has done this or something similar.

Not to doubly change the topic, but I had a pulley crumble on me before and made one out of aluminum with a brass bushing on my Taig Micro Lathe in about 10 minutes. See if you know someone with a lathe and use some 2" aluminum round stock.
