i have my timing set to 10btdc for acceleration, but when you do that you need to run better fuel. i run 91 octane for mileage and i have higher compression from having my head surfaced three times now, so i am taking advantage of the .5 to 1% improvement in power that goes with the timing.
keeping your ignititon and carb tuned well really make the most difference in these motors. the weber carb and a set of headers seem popular to a lot of people on this site but having your motor in top shape really is the way to go if you plan on keeping your truck stock
