Post subject: lots of broken trucks
PostPosted: Tue Mar 16, 2004 8:38 pm
lately it seems everybodys truck is broken, or at least everybody is trying to get their truck fixed, me included, my poor little girl is in the shop right now, no spark out of the coil, and I replaced it, stumped me so I took it to a pro, hopefully it wont stump him, although I don't really have the money to pay him right now, she may be in the garagfe for a few weeks, it sucks somethings awful, I feel depraved of her, its been nearly a month since shes actually ran decent without having left me stranded somewhere, usually in the middle of nowhere...

well i got one on the road, and one torn down. my 81 has never broke down. (knock on wood) although i better hurry up and replace my starter before it leaves me stranded, it has the click of death. i've only had my 80 for about a month and never street drove it. its done pretty good just fouls out plugs. when i get finished swapping in the 1.9 in it, it should run great. the only truck that has left me stranded was my s10 when i had it. the oil line going to the oil cooler got a hole in it and left all the oil on the ground. luckily i noticed before it hurt the engine. had to haul it home on a trailer cause it would leak oil to fast to drive it. when i got home and got under it and started looking, i saw the oil line had popped out of its cheap plastic holder and got up against the steering gearbox and wore a hole in the aluminum line. i called the chevy dealer and they had it in stock which suprised me, i went to pick it up and i asked if they had very many people buying them and he said yea we sell quite a few. 8O i couldn't believe my ears, there should be a recall, this could totally crater an engine, or if you were driving, oil could get all over your tires and brakes and cause a wreck. so when i got the new one on i used lots of tie straps to make sure that the new line wouldn't move.

Mine is not broke, it came in a way that I did not like, so I am fixing it the way I wanted.

Like the starter was whacked, the carb was whacked, the seats were not bolted in, and the backup lights don't work, and it needs a windshield, but none of it's broke.

Unless you count the windshield.

You kinda have to expect there to be quite a few Luvs with problems. Look at their age. Alot of these, at least around here have been used as work trucks, been beat on and generally abused. So buying a luv and making it run well and look good can be alot of work.
Besides, if everyones trucks ran well, looked good, didn't break, rust, or make the occasional funny noise, what would we talk about? :D
