now some questions.. How much can i safley mill that head? any custome cams or cam size for this engine. I am planning to bore 30 to 40 over with new pistons. i Dont want to pay a hole lot but what else should i look at replacing for best performance and price? I want a dailr driver but something i can brag about in conversation. thanks

those prices seem good. i wouldn't mill the head unless its warped. luvs are bad about blowing head gaskets so when you mill the head it raises compression and makes it easier to blow head gaskets. the best cam option is to find someone who can regrind your cam. ask the machine shop if they know anyone who will do that. seems the going price for cam regrinds is around $25. you might check into a header and weber, which are the best performance upgrades for a luv.
