well on mine i have... headerand webber carb thats the standard stuff im guessing you already have. One bit thats hard to find but helps alot is the old offenhouser intake. Another thing I did that i think was the best mod i did was swapping in the electronic ignition from an 82 LUV (write up is in the info section of this site). The internal stuff i have done to my truck is... Bored .040 over and i also had the head decked and milled so im pushing more compression. And soon ill be getting a cam whith 160* of duration. Theres soe stuff to think about, uypping compression on the 1.8L is risky. If you do it youll need to invest in the best headgasket you can find, which means some cash. Good luck

hey MEPR how much did a set of pistons cost you? i rebuilt my engine but didn't rebore it, thinking about tearing it back down and reboring and using oversized pistons.

im not 100% shure of the over bore, its either .030 or .040. I did have over heating problems in the begining but i got a new radiator and that fixed that realy quick. Cruising it dosnt even hit 190* but when its worked hard the temp dose climb faster that when it was stock. This has never caused me any problems whith over heating though. As far as price stuff i dont know, its been a year or so since i did this, ill ask my dad and see if he has reciepts.

one thing i'm gonna do is swap in a 1.9 block, they are identical except for the bore. i checked and there is a big difference in bore size. alot more than you could do by reboring a 1.8, so for a real good power increase just use a 1.9 block, they are easy to find and you can use the head you already have.

thats a cool idea, i never thought of using a 1.9L block to get more bore. As far as my cam goes, i am getting it from a local import shop. They carry alot of cool parts, that where i got my webber and air cleaner too.

if i were you, i would consider having a cam ground, it is cheaper than buying a new one, and you can get it set up to more your application. it really doesnt cost that much, like 20 0r 30 bucks.

getting a cam ground is basicaly resurfacing it, also you can get it ground different ways depending on what/how you run you engine, either performance or ecconomy etc..

That price is for a new cam, and a reground one will do you just as well (IMO). The price on a reground one is around $50 plus core deposit. Check out http://www.deltacams.com and see if they have your application. They also explain their manufacturing process on the site if you don't know how they do it. There are no applications listed so you'll probably have to call them up.

a 1.9 uses the same motor mounts and everything, everything is identicle except for the bore size, the 1.8 is 84mm and the 1.9 is 87mm. when you look at the 2 engines the only difference you can tell by looking at them is the name stamped on the side, you use your same clutch tranny, head, intake, exhaust, oilpan, timing chain, everything except the head gasket, since its bigger bore i'm sure the head gasket is different. the 1.9 is easy to find look for a 83 to about 87 isuzu pup, the motor will have g200 stamped on the side. i've driven a pup with a 1.9 and i was impressed with the power, could tell a pretty big difference.

the 1.9 is a direct swap for the 1.8. i'm not sure what will swap for the early motor.
