I recently acquired a cherry 1980 Chevy Luv Mikado edition. It has factory air which worked great for a few weeks before the compressor died. “No problem” I said. “I’ll just buy another”.
Wrong.
It is a Diesel Kiki unit with a model number that no one can identify. It looks like I’ll never find another exact replacement. There are a couple Kiki units out there, but none will mount to the bracket on the engine.
What I am now looking for is another compressor and associated bracket. I believe that a rotary compressor was available. Ideally, I would like to locate a mounting bracket for said bracket. I can get the hoses custom made. And Rock Auto has the rotary unit.
Also, Rock Auto has an A6 compressor that I initially bought as Rock Auto doesn’t make many mistakes. However, it looks like it is too large to and I don’t have a bracket anyway. I never anticipated this difficulty of finding the right parts to restore my Luv AC system.
Does anyone have info on a rotary bracket or can refer me to someone who can help? I’m not interested in buying any used compressor.
Also any other thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
