Post subject: Need volt reg. advice
PostPosted: Sun Jan 25, 2004 11:30 am
This is my 1st post, as I just joined the forum. I have a stock 79 1.8 litre with abot 190k miles on it. I live way in the sticks, and am on a budget so I would rather fix/rig where possible. I have 2 problems, the 2nd I will put into another post. Th 1st prob is my voltage regulator. It either wants to barely charge, or overcharge. It is adjustale by sliding a little plate, and I have tried that numerous times. I have filed, and cleaned the points, and it still acts up. One possibilty I am left with is that maybe rust hast damage the connections on the bottom where rivets connect these 3-4 resistors, or maybe there is something wrong with the alternator field circuit. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You live in eastern oklahoma or edmond oklahoma? I live in edmond, and if you aren't too far away, I can go try to help.
