Wanting to get my 1.8 rebuilt out of my 80 luv. I was quoted $1300. It sounds kinda high to me but never had a motor like this rebuilt before.

What do you guys think? It a fair price?

Probably so as long as he does a good job. I usually do mine myself just farm out the machine work. Assembly is easy.

Second Frige's opinion, not a bad price, if you trust that it's well-done.

Does that price include pulling it and installing it too? If it's just to build your engine after you pull it it's not bad, if he is installing it too then it's a very good price.

I paid around $1000-$1200 for the two I had rebuilt. I R&R'd them myself and just had them do the rebuild.

That price is for me pulling and installing. I was referred to him by a toyota guy. He had a couple engines by him. Says he does good work. Guess I will give him a shot. Hard to pay that much for a truck I bought for $500

Thought I would update. I went ahead and had the guy do the rebuild. Got her home and have some work ahead of me to get her put back into place. [img][/img]
