Are there any tricks to putting a new bypass hose on? I had a little trouble getting off the old one and now I am having an even harder time trying to slide on the new hose for the connection under the intake.

As far as removing the old one, I fish around with a razor blade. Installing the new one, I use silicone spray.

Thanks for the info. Well I got the old one off after messing around with it for a while. I don't have silicone spray, but I was reading that some people use a little Vaseline. I will have to give that a try. I was wondering if maybe I should be taking off the piece of rubber under the fender to try to get at it from underneath?

Vaseline will work, you should be able to feel it when it's on. Try using a mirror to have a look at it.

Well once I figured out that I needed to get the stupid factory hose clamps out of the way completely, it slid right on with the Vaseline. I thought I would just loosen the clamps all the way and leave them on the hose to make it easier to tighten with it being down underneath everything and hard to get at. The factory hose clamps are a pain to put back together when they are completely apart and you have to be careful not to lose that little washer. I didn't want to have to try to put that thing back together without being able to see it and messing around with it down under there. I am just going to buy new ones instead. The hose is on now, just no clamps yet. I am going to change the top and bottom radiator hoses while I am at it since I believe they are all the originals. Hopefully they will all be good now for another 35 years. :)
