Hello all

What would cause coolant to pool up on the back of the intake manifold, in between cylinders 3 and 4? I see there is a heater hose line that goes into the intake, that hose seems to be tight and the leak does not seem to be coming from the fitting... but it could be. Just curious if this is a problem that happens to the intake manifold? This leak is small, and only happens when the engine is either running or just shut off... after 10 minutes it was not leaking anymore. And I mean a trickle of a leak, very slight leak. I clean out the spot and it only filled up partially again... then cleaned it again at about 30 minutes after running, and there was no more leak. I really hope I do not have head gasket problems... I really dont want to pull the head. I am getting this pickup ready for a 9 hour camping road trip.

I was thinking of running of radiator sealant through it... I know that stuff is not the best to use, but I have to pull my radiator out soon anyways to have it cleaned out... it is slightly plugged already. See if this takes care of the small leak.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Its the heater hose, pretty much has to be. Nothing else is above that area. Pull that hose off and clean up the fitting it is on and see if that cures it. Take a good look at the hose before you start pulling it off though. If it looks like it won't survive have a replacement ready.

Between the intake runners for 3 and 4 there is a tiny hole that passes water between the head and the intake. The intake manifold gasket seals that. I'd think that would leak to below the intake manifold not on top of it though.

Sweet, thank you man! That is what I wanted to hear. That heater hose does not look very good honestly. I am going to see if I can get all the pre-bent heater hoses very soon. I was just more worried about a head gasket or something. I can replace an intake manifold gasket if needed, would probably not take me long.

Again thanks!

Thought it worth mentioning, don't use any radiator sealant. It is more likely to cause problems than help, especially if your radiator is already somewhat plugged. That could put it to completely plugged.

I have used some small amounts of Bars Leaks (not the aluminum power stuff) but only in very small amounts. A little goes a long ways. For a hose or fitting leak though it isn't likely to help.
