Looking for some ideas on how to get some more room in the cab. I have a 1980 4 x 4 daily driver in very good shape. I have purchased a working K9 from Europe to do search and rescue work. My dog and I will be spending a lot of time in the truck traveling mostly for training. I could make a nice dog box and secure it in the bed of the truck but I live in Wisconsin and don't want the dog in cold temperatures for extended periods of time. At this point the only idea I have is to remove the passenger seat and install a crate there....hate to lose my only seat so looking for any ideas...thanks

A topper/camper shell or even a half-size cowboy sleeper with a slider window on the front, a matching rear slider in the cab. You can seal the passageway between with an inflatable donut type seal made for that purpose. Insulate the bed & topper with sheet foam, lined with thin plywood if necessary. Screened operable side windows allow venting in hot weather. Or just stick one of those lightweight doghouses with a warm bed in the topper & forget insulation.
I have a similar uninsulated topper setup for my truck used for camping, if it works for people it should work for a dog.
