I was thinking of doing myown rebuild. Regarding the head. If I take it to a machine shope,
what would it cost for them to machine the valves, change valve guides, etc?

when i had mine done i had the valves ground, head milled down (decked) and valve guides installed and it cost me $246.70 with tax still have the receipt. the hot tanking, valve grind and seal install was $179.00 and the head mill cost another $49.00 it came home assembled just needed the valves adjusted to spec when i installed it. i have pics of the head after the machine shop in my build thread. i took it to a shop up here my dad had a couple engines done by, been around a long time good reputation. ask around locally and see who has a reputation for doing good work and who has been around a while.. where ever those two come together is where you wanna be

Where did you go in Whittier?

Ben, it was a place called Engine Mart, on Whittier Blvd., between the 605 and Washington, on the south side of the street.

Addicted to LUV....There is a place in PHX--Bill's Cylinder Head Exchange. I just swapped one out in September and he charged about 350.00 dollars. Don
