I have purchased a 1980 Chevy LUV almost 2 years ago now. I have had some issues with the transmission and am looking for some advice. The problem i'm having is when i put the transmission into gear the whole truck begins to shudder. It happens mostly in 1st and 2nd gears but rarely in 3rd or 4th. The issue also happens in reverse. It began with my reverse gear grinding when i attempted to put it into reverse, but has now spread to the shuddering in 1st and 2nd. Also it is difficult to sometimes put the transmission into gear at all. I have drained the oil and refilled the transmission. I'm estimating that my truck has close to 315,000 miles on it. I can be sure that it has 115,000 of the estimated miles because I flipped it. Motor is the original 1.8L 4cyl. When i got the truck the clutch had been replaced. I'm at a loss. Any help on this would be appreciated. Also any help in finding an original turn signal-high/low beam switch would be appreciated. All the aftermarket parts are too big to fit on the steering column. Thank you all again. I will post some pics of my little truck and keep you all apraised of the rebuild process.

Time to replace the clutch again. You have some broken springs or maybe a piece of lining has flown off, making the thing out of balance. Something is damaged in there.
