Im having problems starting my 80 luv with a 1.8l. the motor was rebuilt 6 mo ago and now I have the offey intake and weber carb installed but it wont fire its cranking and trying but wont start. i havnt messed with the air/fuel screw yet but i have the vacume line from the distributer goin to the carb and the other holes plugged on the intake any ideas??? ive been messing with it till i give up..

Did you follow the instructions on the carb install on preliminary setup? Usually the mixture screws are turned in all the way and turn out 1 and a half to two turns and then go from there. Did you make sure you have fuel to the carb? Are the butterflies sticking? Is the choke set properly? Do you have a gasket wrong? Are all the holes plugged on the intake? Is the needle ans seat on the carb opening?

I havnt tried the mixture screw yet i will today. its getttin plenty of fuel because it apeers to be flooding after tryin to start it for a few minuts. i got the gaskets right. I havnt messed with the choke, and dono what the last thing u said is???

The needle and seat are what controls the amount of fuel that is entering the carb..they are attached to the float.
