Noticed you have aluminum slots, I looked high and low trying to find caps for mine and settled in a set from some late model Eagle wheels. A little careful measuring drilling and tapping and I got them mounted helped the looks a bunch! Also using a dash cap myself.

The wheels came with the truck, actually. To be perfectly honest, I've hardly given a thought to them, but I believe I'm beginning to understand why the guy who sold it to me looked the other way as it rolled out of his driveway for the last time. They're pretty nice; although it seems that as far as wheel caps go, he had to do some improvisation of his own:

I really can't say whether these caps belong on these rims or not, but they aren't my favorite detail on the car, to put it mildly. One is missing completely, but more importantly, I don't drive a damned ford!
I had simply considered selling them and looking for an aftermarket replacement, but you're causing me to second-guess myself. Are wheel caps just tough to find in general? Every car I've ever had either had stock mags or worse, nothing fancy. Maybe I should be more worried about someone making off with them in the middle of the night than I am about replacing them...

Very cool! I've seen a great red plaid somewhere on this site, large bold squares as opposed to the smaller patches yours came with. There was certainly some wild interiors in these trucks.

Believe it or not that's the factory carpet, it's a bit darker under the floor mats and where the seat rests against the door cards. I have some samples from stockinteriors.com and the carpet itself seems to be of good quality. I can't speak on the fit and finish of their LUV kits but they sent out my samples quickly so I imagine they'll answer any questions in a timely manner.

Haruspex, that factory carpet is unbelievable! I've gotta take some lessons from you. Thanks for the carpet recommendation too; I'll get in touch with them.
If you ever stumble across that other red-square plaid image, toss a link up here for me. It would be nice to have a thread full of good info and images of the upholstery variants throughout the years for others' reference.

No trick, just simple dumb luck. I'm basically the second owner of my LUV (technically third but the second owner changed their mind immediately after they bought it). It was purchased new in a town about 20 miles from me and never left the area. It must have been parked in a garage, or at least under a carport, most of it's life because fading and sun damage are minimal.

I'm starting to doubt my memory and think I may have just been thinking of this Mighty Max which has a similar pattern to yours:

This truck makes mine look like a piece of junk...but of course they're asking damn near $10k more than I paid for mine.

I hope nelson10 doesn't mind the threadjack, but I've decided to park my own mikado interior restoration here to keep things tidy.

Anyhow,
Upholstery news:
A textile sample from SMS Auto Fabrics arrived today! They're a custom upholstery shop near Portland, OR which boasts their very own jacquard mechanical looms for recreating pretty much any old upholstery you could imagine.
Sample at left, artifact at right. You be the judge.

Unfortunately, it's $79/yd. Ouch! An overly-optimistic professional upholsterer could probably re-skin the seats and door panels with 3 yards of material. That's a cool $240 before shipping or taxes if you know you won't make any mistakes. And that hasn't even paid for a single stitch. I told them I'd need to let the shock wear off before I hand over my CC#, but it's so_damn_good I can't imagine finding something better. Despite my excitement, the potential of spending upwards of $600 on a new seat is certainly beginning to seem like a reality. So many worthier causes(:cough:DASH:cough:)

Knowing that the material exists may have to be enough for now. My seat isn't THAT bad, and I suppose I could stand to see it get a little worse. If it's going to be done, it's going to be done well, and if I'm gonna wrap 300 bucks worth of fabric around the seat, it may as well be new foam too, right?

Right?

...into the rabbit hole. More to come.
