Hello- I have recently acquired an '80 LUV. I am not totally new to them, had a 74 and an 81 back in late 1980s. They are great little vehicles. My question this time is that the steering gear has a LOT of excess rotational play in it. I am wondering if there is an adjustment fot this to reduce the backlash . Dont have a manual yet to consult. Any information would be helpful and thanks in advance.

On top of the box is a set screw or bolt with a locking nut around it. Tightening this will help to a point, too tight & the box gets hard to turn.

Thanks very much--I will give it a try and hopefully that will take care of it.
