According to the tear down and rebuild manual for my 1980 chevy luv 4x4 with stock engine (1.8L) there is supposed to be a points and a condenser but there isnt one on the truck and unable to locate the spot where the condenser would have been if it was missing. Does my make and model not have a condenser?

It should have one. I'm surprised it doesn't. Usually it's attached to the outside of the distributor housing. Your idle may clean up if you install one.
