Recently bought another 73' Luv (Post pictures later) Ran Fine for a couple days then whenver i would go to stop it would die

i tinkered on it for about 10 hours yesterday cleaning the carb, replacing the fuel filter, and changing the oil

is it possible that the coil being replaced may fix this problem?

the guy i bought the truck from wired the coil backwards so i have no doubt it needs to be replaced, but what im asking is if the coil is causing me to have weak spark would my truck have a difficult time idling and have a weak reponse to throttle?

I would check the fuel pump and do a volume test to see if it is getting enough fuel.It might also be a ton of crap built up on the needle for the idle solenoid.Check for vacuum leaks.Coil might be shot too..they are fairly reasonable to buy.

Check the ballast resistor, the thing hanging on the side of the coil. It is bypassed in start, but power flows through it in run. If it is fuel, check the window in the front of the float bowl. The gas level should be near the middle.

Just changed the coil and now what it does is rev itself to the moon when I turn in on as if the throttle cable is getting stuck, then it dies immediately after. I have a new ballist resistor waiting for me at the auto parts store, I'm about to replace that.

Fires over now and idles just fine, but i tried to drive it but the throttle has a really bad response timing and it wants to bog out everytime i stop.

does it die when you rev it up? sounds like a carb to me.

i had the same problem recently. adusted points, (well, replaced them actually...) adjusted the timing advance, and rebuilt the carb after finding evidence of silicone in the carb float bowl.

make sure the float is not out of adjustment, and make sure everything is flowing right.

Some one told me once that 90 percent of carburetor problems are electrical. I would just rebuild or get a new distributor clean fuse block replace the coil plugs wires ext. Check around for vacuum leaks.
