hello everyone, i'm the new guy i have a 1978 series 8 it was my fathers first truck. it was sitting in our backyard for about 10 years.it needed a lot of work.i dont know anything about working on cars but i got it running with the help of the book i bought . anyways i cant find the emissions control system anywhere i need the whole thing hoses valves etc. the problem is that there isnt that much money to play with so if anyone has these parts and can get rid at a low price please let me know thanks.

If your not wanting to put much money into it , then just bypass all the emissions , and it well run fine. I'm not sure about Cal. laws , but in Texas....it's not required to have a sniffer test after it is 24 years or older, just a safety inspection. Lights , blinkers...etc....Welcome to the site!

I find stuff like your looking for at local wrecking yards all the time. Heck, last time I was there I saw two LUV's that looked like all they needed was a batter and tires and you could drive them off.

well heres the catch, you need to look at the stickers under the hood. If they say non catalyst then you should be off the hook as it was not made for califronia emisions and should be tested as such. I would ask the DOL before you spend money on a failed test though.
