Alright, there are lockers for rear axle of the luv but not for the front. This got me thingking about putting a rear edn third member in the front axle case. Do you think the ring gear would clear the smaller front case? It dosnt look that much smaller. Well anyway, i guess its something ill have to try whith my spare stuff.

i think the spline count is different, so you would probably have to do more monkeying around than it's worth. i'd just check around and buy a pair of toyota axles off a pre-86 4x4 and swap those in...

well i was just thinking. I wont do it if the splines are diferent and such. When i do my v-8 swap (in who knows how many years) im going to full sized axles so i wont have any problems finding parts.

My thought was to swap a 10 bolt IFS from a mid87 or newer trooper. I have not looked one over close enough yet to see if it would fly or not. The spline count on the shafts is different so you might have to replace everything from the diff to the hub. It could go as far as needing replace a lot of the suspension as well. If you are thinking V8 and solid axles it is probably not the way to go considering the amount of work involved.

IF it could be done, then you could go with the same locker front and rear, or better yet swap in the isuzu 12 bolt rear at the same time.
