Allright Luv Experts, I just got a 78 Chevy Luv with 53,000 original miles and virtually no rust, Now I want more horse power and I need to know where I can get Performance parts for the engine (headers, Carbs, Intake Manifold, etc) Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

I want to keep the stock engine in there and just build off of that, and I need parts for that engine not a V8.

i dont think u can get that much power from the stock engine. but when i had my 80 a rotary conversion wouldnt of been too hard because of the way the engine mounts are located

You can search the message boards and you will find a lot of information. Here are the easy things to do:

Offenhauser intake
Hooker or PaceSetter header
2" exhaust from header to tailpipe
Weber K662 conversion kit (DGEV 32/36) carburetor (Do this first)
Remove the smog pump and plug the holes in the head
RV cam

Anything else would be an engine change. An Isuzu G200 1.9L engine is a direct bolt-in replacement, there may even be an Isuzu 6cyl bolt-in.

you can keep your original engine....just sit it in the floor....it won't even get greasy....then put that V8 in it....hehe

there is topic that I wrote that is under drivetran that reads 1.8 perfromance parts if you go there I have a link that will send you to a place in CA that will custom make you perfromance parts. You send them your cam and they will grind you any lift you want for $150 and make you froged pistons for $600.

nitorus would probly work but its a bit risky. If you can ever find one, the same 1.8L was put in Impulse turbos and some turbo troopers, you could get the turbo and such from one of them...
Other than that, go whith what was stated above(header, carb intake, 2" pipe) i did this stuff to my luv and it runs great.
